A Con Is On The Loose After Conning A Jazz Artist

Read Time:2 Minute, 37 Second

So, there is…,

A con, it seems, is on the loose in the live music performance scene. “Right now, I am broke. People have to respect people, their gifts and work. I had to make means to pay guys in my band.”

Ash fana! Actually, those are words of blues-ed jazz tenor saxophone and soprano player -Sydney Ace Mnisi. He says he performed three gigs for a Mirza Parker (pictured above)- a promoter whose Facebook page says he is Cultural Catalysts at Classic CT.

“He lives around Melville and has been fleecing musicians for a long time. Organizing gigs at various restaurants in Melville, says Mnisi. Parker booked the Mnisi quartet for a gig on 3 July 2022 at a restaurant- the Boulevard in Melville. “Since then, he has been lying about not being paid by the restaurant owner each time I called.”

Mnisi waves a copy of the proof of payment. “You know, we have just come out of Covid, thinking things are getting better, and things like this…, Look, at over sixty, age counts now. One is vulnerable to strokes, heart attacks, and all. You see, I do not want to get angry or stressed. And things like this azifuneki.”

Manhunt For Parker

Therefore, Pretoria Technikon’s music graduate, Mnisi, is not just going to moan about the debt. “But, I am hunting him down. Who knows, if I find where he stays, I might repossess his fridge or something. Ngizoya namajita.”

Hence, the jazz sax (XaX-y) player from Tembisa uses his Facebook page to ask the family to help locate Parker. Upon dialling the Mirza phone number, it got answered not by a,  hello you have reached the Parker’s, please…, Instead, speaking is Sophy, of the famous…,

“You have reached the mailbox of 071 3… at the tone, record your message, then press hash or hang up -tsup!

Mnisi Is A Living Music Heritage Paragon

But Parker needs to respect that an aged twenty-eight Mnisi turned his back on a guaranteed salary as a mechanical fitter and turner. Additionally, he dumped football at the second division level and chose the art of music healing, which treats well some people.

For this reason we can enjoy an Ace sound of herbs such as the titled Grooving In Hell. Man! From the word go, the saxophonist flings- at the soul- a dancy sax blow. In the groove, somewhere, he does a music dazzle thing of Manu Dibango’s Soul-Makosa sax. Das right, so a spirit in a state of swing-sway and swerve with things of holy sound is inclined to say…,

“Net daar! Hoor net daa! That is the jazz baby. Yeah, come on, funk me up, with a smoky sound of the sax. Kinda make me feel sexy right now. Yeah! baby.”

Therefore, the Parkers of this world got to show respect to arts healers of the nation. After all, Sydney Mnisi has performed with music greats Feya Faku, Pat Matshikiza, Judith Sephuma, Hugh Masekela, Abdullah Ibrahim Bheki Mseleku, and Jonas Gwangwa.

Now, too many con characters run amok in the arts and showbusiness. So, let them be exposed.
