e.TV, Why Can Imbewu, For The What Fruit?

Read Time:4 Minute, 27 Second

This week tasteless news reached throngs of television-watching peeps. Ewu! Kuthiwa Iyowa Imbewu and dem people go sing the wonke-wonke dirge…,

Yawaaa!!! Yawaaa! Yawa-Yawa lembewu, yawa-yawel’ emhlabeni.

Ehe! Because ezisematheni in the television world is the production Imbewu, screened by e.TV turns to a once-upon-a-time story at the end of March this year.  Yeah! The drama production with seasoned creative campaigners…, Indeed, we are talking abo Leleti Khumalo, Tony Kgoroge, Thembi Mtshali and…, Therefore, listen, with your view wide open, to Helga Palmer…, She is the head of local programming at eMedia, the owners of e.TV, okay…, The channel where Imbewu is flighted from 9 pm to 9.30 pm – Monday to Friday. Thus uthi uHelga, Imbewu delivered five great seasons of compelling stories despite finding itself in a highly competitive time slot. “The show dethroned its biggest competitor …”

Ehe! Which one na be dat, Helga-o!?

“… And (Imbewu) is the most viewed show in the late night slot. We are proud to be ending on a high.” Haai Mann!!!  There is some discord here. First, you dethrone your competitor. Then the next moment you walk away, for them to freely have the throne at their disposal – just like that…, huh? Eintlik! vele kanti sister…, Helga, nnca-nca! dintshang, don’t they say if not broken, then wena do not break it …., or fix it…, or something like that?

The Present And Future Of Secret Dealings, Lies, And uMjolo Seems Bleak

Now! According to television audience measurement (TAMS) data released in December 2022 by the Broadcast Research Council of South Africa…, Among the top 20 most watched of e.TV shows…, Imbewu came at number four with 2.2 million viewers for the 2022 November prime-time slots between 17.30 and 10 pm. In the same period Uzalo on SABC 1 came top at 5.67 million and Scandal (on e.TV) at 4.78 meters. That time ke…, Ere ke ho jwetse ne, sitting at number three with 4.51 million pairs of eyes, is Generations: The Legacy. Eh!! Bafethu! The Mfundi Vundla project continues to sing i- I Used To Be Number One – things zabo…, yabona mina bengi nswembu ngey’nkathi zami.

Mara vele why iKaizer Chiefs and Generations: The Legacy are not joining force and remix the 1984 hit titled The Winners…,

Ergo, the new collaboration version of the song would be titled…, We Used To Be…, Ey’! Make I tell you, ke a hosebela…, Things are also not looking rosy there…, by Muvhango. At 1.7 million viewers, batrapiwa ke bo mafikizolo babo Skeem Saam and House of Zwide. Both productions enjoy the attention of 3.9 million viewers. Anyway, Back to Imbwewu…, Because here is a big ask, if Imbewu ne, ane…, On account of the fact Imbewu is one of the most watched in the time slot it is on, then it makes sense to ask…,

Why Can Imbewu, For The What?

Haay! Strue! Kere bona ne, some of dem people do not want see into enhle yaz’… Look…, Furthermore, in July 2022, reports said Imbewu landed a sixth spot (with 2.7 million viewers) in the top ten most-watched shows on local channels. Ergo the writer can go something like…, Hawu, kanti, are people ( those in charge ) deaf to that sweet pop evergreen?

Aw’ suka! Ezingasoze zabuna madoda, ezamakati angempela. Therefore, take it away by Ali Katt …,

As waar of indeed, Moshito wa the rolling good times for the people must be allowed hotswela pele. Or e.TV nifuna ukusitshela ukuthi abo Duma kaNdlovu, Leleti Khukhalo nabo Anant Singh sebaphelelwe. Well, also, unless someone wants or does not want to tell other stuff. for example, perhaps from a revenue generation perspective, Imbewu is one of those good products that does not bring much honey into the pot of the channel. But on the other hand, as they say, maybe it is time for other people to eat. Wa vuurstana, the awudedele abanye type of things. Still, why are as many, if not all, people not allocated a place at the dinner table – at the same time? You know, in this case…, maybe take it easy on buying some of the foreign productions taking food from the mouths of domestic creatives, artists and showbiz entrepreneurs? Rather bankroll, even more-more..! The South African television and film sectors. After all, audiences are already investing their time and emotions on local productions. Hence many of dem home-brewed productions are the most watched locally.

So, The Metro FM Music Awards Are Back With What?

Well…, As might be expected, there is a chorus of reports saying something like akufani because the replacement of Imbewu will be another locally produced drama series. Hogay’!!! Hang on a minute…, Once again, rather invest more in local productions without replacing a lekker ding (that is doing well) with another one from home? In case you are not aware, Imbewu got set in Durban KZN just as the recently canned, also by e.TV, Durban Gen.

In closing, from an audience serving and audience performance point of view, it does not make sense ukuwisa Imbewu. Of Kanjani?
